The great sculptures of the natural world, mountains occupy a quarter of the land on the Earth's surface. Since the dawn of civilization, humanity has found a home in the shadow of these giants- life dictated by the mighty summits and valleys. This brilliant documentary showcases just how these magnificent phsyical structures have constructed our paths and driven the evolution of man.

Finding their place between the forest and the sea, the Japanese have always felt awe and gratitude toward Nature. Since ancient times, they have negotiated their own unique relationship with their natural surroundings. Acclaimed photographer Masa-aki Miyazawa discovered the essence of that ancient way of living in Ise Jingu, Japan’s holiest Shinto shrine. Inspired by the idea of sending a message to the future in the same way this ancient shrine keeps alive the traditions of the past, Miyazawa used an ultra-high resolution 4K camera to create a breathtaking visual journey linking the Ise forest with other forests throughout Japan.

The film consists of three short stories: “King of the Mountains” - about a giant bear; “Loyalty” is a touching love story between two storks; “The Loop” is about a proud deer.

Rita Patiño, an indigenous woman from Mexico, was found by a human rights organization inside a Kansas psychiatric hospital, where she had been involuntarily confined, for 12 years, despite the fact that the hospital authorities were never able to determine who was this woman, where did she come from, or what language she spoke. After the consequences of confinement and medical negligence, Rita returned to Mexico, where she lives with Juanita, her niece, and primary caregiver, in a context of precarious economic possibilities. A moving portrait of the lives of these two Tarahumara women, questioning the multiple forms of racism and discrimination that indigenous women in Mexico and the United States face.
